Train Up A Child

August 28, 2008

The kids and I went out to dinner last night with my parents.  When I got home I went upstairs and looked at the kids’ computer and saw this.

Allie has apparently learned how to use Outlook.  Complete with the schedule for the evening and even a workout planned for later in the week!

THAT is precious. I’m amazed at what kids know!! (Now, if I could just get them to get out and get a REAL job…)

Wow dude she is further along then me!

On a similar note, I just spoke to my oldest brother in Arizona, and he informed me that my 10 year old nephew just finished writing his first website, and is about to publish it, apparently its a gaming forum and he has been saving his allowances to pay for the hosting!

He is also making his own pc game, and he also told my brother to tell me to switch back to pc’s because macs are just toys, not real machines!

Gosh whatever happened to gi joes and neighborhood football games?

Anyway man that really is awsome about Allie, its crazy how smart kids are!

Wow! I’m truly amazed at that. My son has been begging me on a daily basis to get on the computer. I guess I’m a little too old fashioned because i was worried that he would be exposed to things that would be too much for him, or that would be dangerous. But I’m being advised more and more to let him use it, otherwise he will be behind in his computer knowledge. This actually helps me see a positive side to computer activities…possibly even create an oppotunity for me to teach him organization skills, and for he and I to spend time together. Way to go Allie.

There are many safe guards that you can put on your computer these days. You can use parental controls to ensure that he doesn’t see anything you don’t want him too! You can even set up his own windows account, that way he can only get on that one. Then, allow the “guards” to visit ONLY websites that you have approved Safe. Who says you have to have the internet, anyway 🙂
