God Is Preparing You For Something

January 16, 2009

I really enjoyed the movie Slumdog Millionaire.  It was about a young man from the slums of India who finds himself on the game show Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.  Being that he is just a “slumdog” no one can understand how he is able to progress through the game, correctly answering the questions as they are presented to him.  As the story unfolds through flashbacks of his childhood you see that he knows the answers because the events of his life had prepared him for this day.  In the end, he was able to fulfill his destiny because of the experiences he had endured throughout his lifetime.

I thought it was a great parallel to our walk with Christ.  The Bible says in Psalm 37:23,

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” (NLT)

He is directing our steps. We may not know it at the time, but God is preparing us for His ultimate purpose for our lives.  As we grow older, I am confident that we will be able to look back at our lives and identify all of the steps that God has taken us through to prepare us for what He created us to do.

We should delight in all of the experiences of our life because God is preparing you for something!

Great reminder Mike! Thanks for the thoughts….Sometimes I wonder what that is, but I keep holding out to see.

Wow this was good to read, given the new developments in my life!
Is it Gods will for me to go through this? That’s up for debate, but whether or not He will use it for a bigger, better purpose, is not debatable with me!

    Great post, right on time!
